1. Seal entry points around your home including foundation gaps, siding joints, vents, soffit gaps and window screens and doors
2. Remove excess brush and tree limbs from the exterior of your home. Leave at least a 1′ gap between your home and your plants. Do not leave places for rodents and birds to take shelter near your home.
3. Clean up trash and sources of food from the home’s exterior. Keep compost and wood piles far from your home. Take out your trash regularly and keep it covered when stored.
4. Keep your home’s interior clean and don’t leave food out. Remove and crumbs, spills or leftovers from surfaces and on the floors. Keep your dry food in sealed storage containers and off the ground.

Depending on the pest, the best DIY pest control spray varies and can change based upon season, climate and other external factors. Indoor Pest Control Home Remedies

For solutions in your home, it’s best to use localized DIY pest control products like baits and traps. Just be sure to put the traps away from any place children or pets can find them. Other home remedies include fly traps, and alcohol-based cleaners to keep surfaces and floors clear of debris, food and water.

Outdoor DIY Pest Products

For mice and rats, rodent boxes are effective but require regular maintenance. Traps can also be effective but need to be monitored regularly. Place them against walls and along beams – common pathways for rodents. Consider sources of water like hoses and runoff. For outdoor DIY  insect control, seals like caulking and foam are effective. If you are open to insecticides, exterior granules provide long-term protection.
